Looking Back and Looking Ahead

In the midst of change there is much to celebrate at Community Church Rancho!

In January, Pastor Rob announced that after 35 years serving as our Senior Pastor he will be transitioning out of that role this year. This is a bittersweet moment for our church family. After processing this news, there are three things that are certain: God is good, He has done some amazing things over the last 35 years, and He is not done working in and through the people of Community Church Rancho.

As an important part of our church family, we want to be sure that you are informed, that you have the opportunity to honor what God has done, and to participate in what He is doing. This blog is a place where you can find important updates, ways you can participate in what’s going on, and look back in celebration.

Meet Dr. Bob

Dr. Bob Logan has been brought in to come alongside us as Transitional Leader. He has a rich history of pastoring, coaching, consulting, teaching, and creating resources. But the best part of having Dr. Bob here is the opportunity we have to return to our roots—Dr. Bob is the church planter who started Community Church Rancho in 1977!

Since handing the reins to Pastor Rob, Dr. Bob has worked with hundreds of churches around the world helping them establish disciple-making cultures and leadership development systems. He has also navigated many churches and denominations through a change in leadership. We can’t help but believe that God has returned him to us for such a time as this!

Be sure to catch the weekend service for an important update from Dr. Bob.

Great Moments with Pastor Rob

In thinking of stories about Pastor Rob, I think back 43 years ago to when he wasn’t Pastor Rob, wasn’t even on staff yet at Community, but was a seminary student doing a summer internship here. There was no building yet, and someone had brought in a youth group to do a missions project putting together neighborhood Bible clubs. Rob was helping in the area of outreach, running around coordinating with families who were hosting the neighborhood Bible clubs, connecting with parents of the unchurched kids who were being invited, following up, and just generally building relational bridges.

Even then, Rob had a strong heart for people who were not yet followers of Jesus. Some of those people came to faith. He helped establish and nurture people in their early days of faith, reinforcing the relational nature of evangelism. That DNA of relational outreach to those who don’t yet know Jesus is still part of our community today, even decades later, thanks in part to Rob, and we celebrate that lasting contribution and legacy.
