It may be helpful—and hopefully inspiring—for you to know about the process the church board is engaging in at this time. Our dialogue is not only horizontal with each other, but vertical with God as we listen for the voice of the Holy Spirit.

Each time the board meets, we open with the same question: How are you experiencing God? We go around the room and share what God is doing in our lives. The board members are going deeper with God and God is speaking clearly to each of us. As James writes, “Come near to God and he will come near to you” (James 4:8a).

The women and men on our board are very much in tune with the Spirit, dialoguing honestly and seeking to discern what God is doing. They are disciples of Jesus themselves, but their primary responsibility as board members is to take care of the church. They are really stepping into that role, connecting with each other and with God, and looking out for what’s best for the whole of the congregation, both now and in our future. I tell them each week – and I share with you now – they are the right women and men to guide us through this process.

But this question: “How are you experiencing God?” isn’t just for board members. It’s for you, too! How are you experiencing God? What is He doing in your life? In the lives around you? I would love to know. Find me or a staff member before or after church and share your stories of what God is doing in and through you as you listen for his voice.

As we engage in this discernment process together, please pray with me for the board:

  • For wisdom to hear the voice of God
  • For courage to make the important decisions
  • For compassion in all things

Also continue to pray and to give faithfully so that we as a congregation may be prepared to serve, love, and give as God would have us be prepared: “And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:8).

Come to the Town Hall Meeting this Sunday
Remember to attend our Town Hall meeting on Sunday, March 26 from noon-1:00pm. Your presence is very important. We have some significant church family news to share and we’ll also set aside time to address any questions you have. Childcare will be provided.

In the meantime, join together in prayer as we look forward together to the future God has in store for us.

Warmly in Christ,
Dr. Bob

Great Moments with Pastor Rob

Pastor Rob & Kathleen,

Thank you so much for the years, the time, the energy, the words, and the gospel that you poured into us. From simple things like picking up some well-illustrated Bible story books to read to our kids that you had read to yours, to larger efforts of spearheading a diaper drive when we had twins, as you knew what that was like. And thank you for your longevity in fighting the good fight and running the race of ministry while still prioritizing your family, because not only were you two a blessing to us, but your kids were a blessing to us as well. Thank you for all you’ve done, all you do, and especially for who you are in the Lord.

– Weston & Amy Oxley
