Dr. Bob Logan’s Update 4/5/23

Blessing Pastor Rob and Kathleen

Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

2 Corinthians 9:6-8 (NIV)

All of this month, we’re going to be celebrating and appreciating Pastor Rob and Kathleen. As we are entering the final month of their ministry here, we want to take time to honor them for all of the contributions they have made to Community. Think about the difference they have made in your life. Take time to walk down memory lane, and to praise and thank God as you are doing so.

The Board wants to give the congregation an opportunity to show appreciation, so we will be taking a special offering for Pastor Rob and Kathleen to express our love in a more tangible way. The board encourages you to ask Jesus what he wants you to give to share your gratitude by means of a financial gift. You can contribute to Pastor Rob and Kathleen online by clicking here and using the dropdown arrow to direct your gift to the Senior Pastor Honorarium (example below).

Pastor Rob, alongside his wife Kathleen, has been pastoring this community for over 40 years. Pastors experience sleepless nights and seasons of frustration. They seek to encourage, they sacrifice, they give of themselves. Pastor Rob has spent countless hours preparing for preaching and teaching and equipping people for ministry. He has consistently engaged his calling to this community. We can affirm his and Kathleen’s contributions, and we are grateful to have this love offering as a means to do so in a more tangible way.

Don’t forget to RSVP!

If you are planning to attend Pastor Rob’s retirement celebration, please RSVP here by April 14 if you have not done so already. We need to know how much food to order. The celebration will be held on April 23rd at 3pm.

 Approaching Easter

As we walk through Holy Week, I can’t help but think of the amazing love God lavishes on us and how that love is meant to grow and be shared. A surprising number of those who do not attend church regularly do express a spiritual curiosity and would be open to an invitation from a friend. Consider who you might engage with outside of our congregation and bring along to one of our services to hear the good news of the resurrection of Jesus.

Make a fun event of it. Meet them beforehand so they don’t need to go in alone and find you. Then take them out to brunch or lunch afterwards. As always, listen more than you talk and be curious about what God may be doing in their lives. We never know what God may do when we take the time to listen and respond in obedience to the promptings of the Holy Spirit.

Warmly in Christ,

Dr. Bob

Great Moments with Pastor Rob

I want to s hare a brief story of Pastor Rob Acker. He was visiting us here in a town of Sonaguera Honduras 1984. We took him to a very small and very poor village named Tosca. We invited him to preach; He was ready to preach about the prodigal son Luke 15:11. When we got there to the house where we were  going to celebrate the service, we found many pigs inside the house ready to sleep among the people; Pastor Acker was really surprised; then after a moment He said: ” I need to change my message!”
