Dr. Bob Logan’s Update 4/19/23

What celebratory and meaningful services this weekend! We participated in a truly multi-sensory worship experience: communion, six baptisms, individualized and corporate prayer, along with lots of different ways to respond to God. I was so pleased to see the engagement of so many people. One of my personal highlights was seeing the kids in the first service sitting on the floors and doing their artwork to God along the sides of the sanctuary. I also loved seeing people being prayed for at the various prayer stations. Part of our prayer ministry now includes opportunities to pray with and for people during and after the services. We are bringing our wholes selves to God.

Many of you brought friends and family along to be there for the baptisms, and I pray it was a good experience for them seeing so much movement and so much interaction as a part of our worship services. It was a great morning at both our 9:00am and 10:30am services, allowing us time for worship and response to God as we seek to deepen our relationship with him.

Spiritual Gifts Intensive

Be sure to sign up for our Spiritual Gifts Intensive on Monday evening, May 8, starting at 6pm. We will spend a focused 90 minutes on how the use of our spiritual gifts to help others is not a burden but a joyful outflow of what God has already done in our lives and hearts. As we reach out and serve others, we grow. We benefit as we use what God has given us to benefit others. Those around us are helped and we have the joy and blessing of spiritual growth and deepening maturity as a result. For those who want to dig into those concepts a bit more, you can sign up here.

Student Ministries Leader Search

Please keep praying for the search for a student ministries leader. We are searching in places where we have good connections, and we are currently gathering and beginning to review resumes. Pray for the right person for our middle and high school students and for discernment as we make that selection.

Sign up to be part of a Listening Group!

If you are a regular part of our congregation, please be sure to sign up to be part of a listening group. These are not ongoing commitments, like small groups, but rather a chance for everyone to speak into our direction as a church. We value opportunities for everyone to speak into the shaping of what our future will look like moving forward: your voice matters. These listening sessions, scheduled at various times and places, are times for the leadership of the church to listen to as many people as possible about what God is putting on your hearts regarding Community.

Together, you can help us focus on what’s truly important. So please sign up for a Listening Group, either after the service on the courtyard or online here. We want you to be directly involved with the process of our ongoing journey as a congregation.

Come to this Sunday’s Service to celebrate the Ackers

As part of our worship services this coming weekend, we will bless and commission Pastor Rob and Kathleen as they move forward into the next season of their life and ministry. Last words are lasting words, and we as a congregation want to honor them with these words. Even as we say goodbye, we also take something of the past with us, and our desire is to show our gratitude for their investment in our lives over many decades of ministry. And if you haven’t already done so, please generously give a love gift to the Ackers. Be sure to select Senior Pastor Honorarium on the dropdown menu:  Donate – Community Church Rancho (churchcenter.com)

Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. (Hebrews 13:7-8)

And as we move forward into that bright future God has for us, remember our ultimate hope, toward which we move as a congregation: I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.  (Philippians 3:14)

Warmly in Christ,

Dr. Bob

Great Moments with Pastor Rob

I turn 30 on Friday and decided to look through my baby book… found this picture of my baby dedication. 🙂
