Community News from Dr. Bob – 5/31/23
What incredible energy and engagement we saw in our worship this past Sunday—in both of our services! It was amazing to see people really catching the idea of a God who is actively at work in their lives and whose presence they can experience for themselves.
In other celebrations:
· Our intercession ministry has not only mobilized in-service prayer teams, but is also meeting bi-weekly over Zoom with plans to begin in-person meetings as well. They’re doing a refresh of the prayer request distribution list as well.
· Our guest care team has new volunteers and has also redesigned gift bags to continue to welcome new guests and show them our appreciation in fresh ways.
· Our children’s ministry successfully went to a new room alignment to create a better environment for the kids we have right now. It’s a more intentional design to help the children engage and feel special.
· We’ve also begun a new small group leader training. Although it’s still in the very early stages, but we’re seeing promising signs as people step in to grow in their experience of God and learn how to facilitate that responsiveness in others.
Upcoming events:
· Vacation Bible School is coming up and we’re taking a different approach this year of offering it on five consecutive Sundays. This decision positions us to focus specifically on reaching unchurched families who are not already a part of a local church.
· We currently have 60 kids enrolled in our Bubble Party, most of whom are not already part of our church. Due to the large turnout, we need more adult volunteers to lend a hand. You can find details on this event here.
· Our next Town Hall Meeting is coming up this Sunday, June 5. We’ll be presenting ministry goals for next year and going over what’s necessary for the first steps of our Senior Pastor search process.
Finally, be sure to join us this coming Sunday as we pray for our Guatemala team and send them off next week. We have 11 people from Community and 2 from Flipside. Let’s pray together that their trip would be fruitful and that our team members would become a part of what God is doing right now in Guatemala.
As a community, we have much to celebrate as we see and experience all that God is doing in and through us.
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.
