Community Updates from Dr. Bob: 12/06/2023

God is at work in our church! This fall, through our Discipleship Lab we’ve seen people taking next steps towards living and loving like Jesus and being more intentional about their faith—learning how to follow the Spirit’s lead and to join where God is working. We’ve seen our students hungry for connection and depth—many didn’t miss a week at Discipleship Lab.

We’ve also seen new art ministries and new outreach ministries… God is stirring in people’s hearts to reach out beyond the walls of our church. We are looking at the possibility of food pantries, a ministry to young adults, to people struggling with addiction, and to those confined to home for health reasons. New people are getting connected, and we have more every week: those who are new to the area or new to the country, those who have known Community for years or those who are a part of the surrounding neighborhood.

The Holy Spirit moved in powerful ways through our Vision and Prayer Night. This past Monday, 40 people gathered to seek God through silence, spontaneous and guided intercession times—we prayed for the work of God in our lives, in our church, in our neighborhoods, and in our world. God is definitely “doing a new thing” as we read in Isaiah 43:19.

God is stirring! And this year, in light of all that God is doing, we want to focus our annual year-end giving towards that ongoing mission of living and loving like Jesus. We want to focus on how people are making disciples as they grow as disciples. So please join in the mission of Jesus; consider giving a sacrificial gift above and beyond.

You can write Year End Drive on your check or select it from the pull-down menu if you give online.

As you pray about your response, the Holy Spirit may be prompting some of you to take a step up in your giving. For example, if you are not giving regularly, start a consistent pattern. If you are giving consistently, take a further step toward generosity. What we do with our finances reflects our priorities. As Jesus said, “Where your treasure is, there you heart will be also.” (Matt 6:21)

May you have a Blessed Christmas season as you experience the transformative work of Jesus in your life!
