COMMUNITY
On Sunday afternoon, our Pastoral Search Team provided an update on their progress and process. And they have been working hard! You can find a video of the presentation online HERE.
One highlight, of course, was the 2025 Church Prospectus and Lead Pastor Job Description. You can find it HERE. The Pastoral Search Team did a great job capturing the excitement of this opportunity, as well as the unique situation and history of Community. Let me encourage you not just to read over – but to pray through it! Pray for our church, God’s candidate, and the process. Pray for God’s favor, provision, and timing. Pray that we – as a church – would continue to respond to God’s call on us during this transition: to seek Him diligently, to serve Him faithfully, and to join Him on His mission here in the Inland Valley.
To this end, this week I wanted to offer a few scriptures that can serve as prayer fodder, as we lift up our church and this pastoral search process.
2 Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
Prayer Prompt: God, give us the passion and hunger to seek Your face. May we be a people who pursue Your presence above all else. We repent of any sin, any distraction, any fear, any wickedness, any pride, anything at all that stands between us and You. Humble us, Lord, so that we depend on You alone! We want to know You, Lord; help us seek You more fully – wholeheartedly.
Habakkuk 3:2, “Lord, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, Lord. Repeat them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy.”
Prayer Prompt: Heavenly Father, would You pour Your Spirit out over this church – and over our city? Do a mighty work, Lord, that Your fame would fill our valley. Save us; renew us; transform us. We want nothing more than your presence, Lord. You come where You are welcome. And Lord, You are welcome here! Pour Your Spirit out – for Your glory.
Psalm 27:14, “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
Prayer Prompt: Lord, we want You to act now. But God, help us to trust Your timing. Let us cling to You as we wait. Teach us to trust. Teach us to long. Teach us to wait faithfully. God, give us the courage and the faith to wait for You. This is our strength. You, Lord, are our strength.
“Never stop praying” (1 Thess. 5:17, NLT).
With Joy –
Pastor Brett
