COMMUNITY –
Ok, I’ve got to come clean. I’ve been talking behind your backs. I know that talking about someone without them knowing about it can be considered rude. It can deteriorate trust. So, I just want to confess: I’ve been talking behind your backs.
I’ve been talking to God about our church – and I’ve been asking Him to give you a spirit of unrelenting, radical, passionate prayer. I’ve been asking God to wreck your contentment with an average prayer life. I’ve asked Him to make the cookie cutter Christian approach to prayer like spoiled milk to you. I’ve prayed for your discontent with ordinary. I’m asking God to turn your prayer lives – your whole lives really – upside down. And I haven’t even asked your permission.
But I’m not sorry. I believe that if you get a taste of this type of prayer, you’ll be ruined for the ordinary prayer meeting, the throw-away prayers before dinner, and the faithless, safe recitations. You’ll be absolutely ruined for prayer as you’ve known it.
I’ve asked God to spark a passion for prayer in your life – an unrelenting fire in your bones. An I-can’t-go-on-until-I’ve-poured-my-heart-out-to-Him kind of restlessness. I’ve asked God to fill every last crack and crevice of your heart with an outpouring of His Spirit. I’ve prayed that you would hunger for His presence in your life. I’m praying that God would wake you up at all hours of the night with an insatiable spirit of prayer.
Anyhow, I could go on describing what I think God has in store for you… but suffice it to say, I’ve been praying for you. And now it’s not even behind your back. I’m looking you straight in yours eyes and letting you know that I’m asking God to birth in us a radical movement of prayer for a radical work of God – right here.

In our church.
For His glory in the inland valley and beyond.
